Perrin turbo inlet! A tight squeeze, but a worthwhile deed.

Hey!... Welcome to another #modmonday where I my take on an installed part on my Subarus. This week we will look at the Perrin turbo inlet, which happens to be installed on both of my cars. The Forester for the last year and on the STi for the last 5.

The factory turbo inlet is a known weak point, often with age it will begin to leak where it connects to the turbo. While a replacement factory unit can last awhile, this is an excellent time to upgrade. There are many brands out there, but I decided to go with the Perrin unit.

The benefits of the Perrin turbo inlet are a much stouter build quality and a much larger diameter vs the factory unit. With multiple layers of silicone you won't worry about it falling apart after years of service. The larger overall diameter freely easily outflows the factory part, which in turn spools the turbo up that much quicker.

Installing this guy is a bit of a struggle, you can chop out your old inlet to bypass the intake manifold removal. Or you can remove the whole intake manifold, either way it is a less than fun experience but a worthwhile use of time as the benefits outweigh the hardships to install it.

My only noticeable concern with the inlet has come on the STi, after 5 years of service there are a few spots where the inlet "pushes on" other parts which has caused exterior tears. I have smoked tested it for leaks but it come back fine, they are just a slightly concerning.

With those concerns stated the spool up is noticeable quicker and power delivery is excellent. That would be the reason for both cars having them installed.
