Yokohama Geolandar G015 A/Ts initial review! With wild weather patterns how have they been?

Welcome to another #modmonday! This week we will take my initial impressions on the @Yokohamatires Geolandar G015 A/T tires equipped on the Forester for the beginning of 2022!

New wilderness tire of choice!

Stacked!

With the fifth year of my wheel and tire anniversary fast approaching I decided it was time for a change in tires. The Firestones I had enjoyed for many miles still had quite a bit of tread on them but I was ready for something new, both for my enjoyment and to see what was out there. During my work day at Subaru I see plenty of Yokohama Geolandars coming through the shop, I happened across a set of G015s and thought those don't look half bad. I had the chance to test drive a Forester and Outback Wilderness with them and I was impressed by the handling and road manners. They are one of the few manufacturers that still carry them in a 235/70R15, so with this I was set with my decision.

I don’t know what looks funnier, the tire size or wheel size.

Ready for air!

The G015s have a very aggressive exterior sidewall unlike my outgoing Firestones. It gives them a bit more off road flare but it should also be helpful for treading through deep boggy mud. The tread pattern is also much more aggressive with plenty of siping which helps pick up snow and thus help with overall traction within the snow. Being a passenger tire version they are also very lightweight and come in at 29.5 pounds a tire and with 13/32nds of tread. Which should be more than enough for the little Forester.

Sidewall grippers!

Sipes and more siper! Nice detailed shot of the tread.

Majestic!

With the climate all over the place for the last couple of weeks I have had the ability to drive in all conditions from ice/freezing rain, snow, dry, temps below 6 F and above 60 F these tires have certainly had a crazy start to their life. I have only had one experience with them at highway speeds and they rode much quieter and smoother than the outgoing tires. A lot of my driving is at 45 mphs and lower, during these speeds they have been much quieter and sticky. I go around a lot of round-a-bouts during my commute and they hold the rear of the vehicle at quicker speeds.

Kansas weather.. You never know what it will do in fifteen minutes.

It was just 60 degrees yesterday! Now it’s -6.

I've pushed them past their limit on some icy spots just seeing what they can do and while the ABS kicked on it was much quicker to relinquish lock up and allow the tires to get back to work. Otherwise they have met all of my expectations and more. I am excited to see what these tires will do in the future and currently only have good things to say about them in all aspects.
