When Subaru won't make you a bug deflector... You make it yourself! 06-08 Forester Xt.

Hey!... Welcome to another #modmonday. Where I show you a part on my car and what benefits and downsides it may have. This week we will look at the @Subaru_usa bug deflector for 06-08 Foresters, that is modded to flow air to the scoop.

One piece I had always wanted for my lifted Forester was a rock guard/bug deflector. I enjoyed the added styling it gave the vehicle but was disappointed to find out they only make Na versions. Subaru is happy to make these for other turbo Subarus… but not the turbo SG6 Foresters in America.

What is a 06-08 Forester owner supposed to do? How about take a dremel tool to it? That seems right.. Well, that is exactly what I did. Cutting off the center edge between the two headlights allows for the hood scoop to catch as much air as needed.

It has been installed on the car for the last two years and has been issue free since being installed. Even the trimmed downed area hasn't effected it's durability or function.

The downfall of it is it traps dirt underneath the deflector and without removal it is very difficult to clean. I would recommend it being removed at least once a year for a thorough cleaning.

From Subaru it comes with thorough instructions and all the necessary parts to install it. It takes around 45 mins to an hour to install. Overall I am very pleased with the added styling. Now if they only offered it from the factory, instead of purchasing a new piece to chop up...
