Exedy 15804 stage 1 clutch! After a few miles how is it holding up?

Hey!... Welcome to a #modmonday update! Two months ago I installed my @Exedy stage 1 clutch on my 06 Forester XT, this week I will discuss how it is like on a day to day basis.

After much research and thinking I ended up choosing the the Exedy stage 1 clutch for it's ability to hold a bit more power than the stock equivalent. Nobody wants to put their car all back together and then find a weak link that causes you to take it all apart again.

Rusty and old, lets replace it with something that can hang with the motor upgrades we have.

With this in my mind I went with the Stage 1. Over the last month of driving it I have learned quite a bit. The first 500 miles were spent breaking the clutch in. Which exhibited plenty of clutch chatter which is normal but a bit annoying.

It has no problem holding up with my stage 3 upgrades of that should put it near STi stage 2 power figures. The downside of the Stage 1 clutch is the stiffness that comes with it. After upgrading my STi to a Exedy Stage 1 clutch and having no issues with stiffness I assumed the Forester version would be somewhat similar, it is not.

It is a very complete kit that includes a new pilot bearing for the flywheel.

And a new throw out bearing to replace that old tired unit.

For a daily driver this stiffness is right at limit for stop and go traffic. I will say it is at least three times stiffer than the O.e. unit and a long day of driving ou will really feel it. Although with the disabling of the hill holder the stiffness became that much more bearable.

Old flywheel was just above the rivets. Ready to be replaced.

In closing I wish it was just a bit softer but overall it is a great clutch that I look forward to putting more miles on.
