Company 23 cam gear holders! Holding cams down!... and sometimes spinning them around.
Hey!... Here we are on another glorious Monday, ready for another #modmonday! Today we look into a few tools of the trade when working on your Subaru. You can own all the fancy trick parts in the world but if you can't install them... what are they really worth!? Today we will look over Company 23's cam gear holder tools! I have owned these for the last three and half years and they still get the job done like day one!
There are a bevy of special tools out there but which will you truly use over and over... and which tools can be bypassed. For me these seemed like a necessity, due to my passion for turbo Ej motors and my current line of work as an Auto technician.
When I purchased my Forester I knew that the headgaskets were going to need to be replaced and certain tools would be acquired. Given the pain that replacing the cam gear bolts can be and the need to hold the cam gears in place while installing the timing belt I went to Company 23 for these two tools.
Each cam holder tool works on certain Subaru applications, I have the Acvs intake came holder and the standard intake/exhaust sprocket holder. They both utilize a design that interlocks into the cam sprocket, locking them in place. The standard int/exh holder works on a multitude of Subaru engines from turbo motors to N/a variants. Both make lining up timing marks and rotating cams a breeze.
They offer many other Subaru specific tools to help you quickly and professional finish the job. If you have an upcoming job that a special tool could be of assistance give their products a look. You will thank yourself later when they job takes half the time!
